Volgograd State Medical University
Volgograd State Medical University was founded in 1935 as a Stalingrad Medical Institute which got a status of the Academy in 1993 and later in 2003 it was granted the status of the University. Volgograd University is an active participant of a number of International projects which promote medical research and clinical practice and this account for a genuine interest in the activities of the University by the government officials of various countries. Recently, the ambassadors of the USA, Malaysia, India, the People’s Republic of China, Brunei, Bangladesh, etc., top officials of the Medical and Dental Councils of different countries visited the University. Volgograd Medical University built up relationships with various foreign universities imparting MBBS education including – the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (USA), Albert Ludwigs Universitaet (Freiburg, Germany), Martin-Luther Halle-Wittenberg Universitaet (Germany), Belgian, French, Chinese universities, etc. University is collaborating with World Federation for Medical Education, with WHO, UNESCO, British Council, United States Agency for International Development, American International Health Alliance, and participating in a wide range of joint international research projects.

Nowadays, among the medical schools of the Russian Federation, the university ranks very high and many scientists are world-famous due to their contribution to the theory and practice of medicine. Since 1962, the university is giving training to International students, including students from India as well. In this university, students from 113 states of the former Soviet Union, Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Africa have studied. 3000 physicians, dentists and pediatricians, and pharmacists have been trained for foreign countries, over this period. University got an opportunity to teach foreign students in the English language, since 2000.
