INTRODUCTION

The University of Chester is a public university located in Chester, England. The university originated as the first purpose-built teacher training college in the UK. As a university, it now occupies five campus sites in and around Chester, one in Warrington, and a University Centre in Shrewsbury. It offers a range of foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate courses, as well as undertaking academic research.

The university is a member of AACSB, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the Cathedrals Group, the North West Universities Association and Universities UK. It holds the Silver Award in the Teaching Excellence Framework.

The University of Chester is the fifth oldest higher education establishment in England, with only the universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Durham and London outdating it.

Exton Park: The heart of your university experience, Exton Park is at the centre of it all. A home, a hub of learning and socialising, and where you’ll make lifelong friends and memories.
Creative Campus, Kingsway Tour: Creative Campus, Kingsway is located on the outskirts of the city centre, a 20-minute walk from Parkgate Road Campus. Across 6,920 square metres this specially developed creative arts campus offers a range of modern facilities and equipment to bring learning to life.
Queen’s Park: Take a tour of Queen's Park, home to undergraduate and postgraduate courses within the areas of Accounting and Finance, Management, and Marketing, Tourism and Destinations.
The Hammond: The University has a huge range of University-owned accommodation, located either on Exton Park (Parkgate Road), on the border of this site or conveniently located in the centre of Chester. The  University also works closely with private providers of student accommodation.

Thornton Science Park: Across its 66 acres, Thornton remains very much at the forefront of scientific research and development. It accommodates a range of impressive facilities, including: modern purpose-built laboratories and industrial facilities to provide the best practical experience and learning opportunities, high-quality professional engineering software, a specialist science and engineering library, computer facilities featuring fully licensed engineering, design and development software, Windows and Mac computer suites, a dedicated games zone and much more.

University Centre Shrewsbury: University Centre Shrewsbury offers high-quality teaching, learning and research, set within the medieval and beautiful town of Shrewsbury. We really get to know our students and our supportive community of passionate, inspiring and friendly academics and support staff strive to ensure you can pursue your individual interests and goals.

University Centre Warrington: University Centre Warrington has the courses, contacts and expertise to kick- start your career in one of the vital services that are the backbone of every community: education; health; social care; and policing. Specialising in delivering innovative employment-focused courses in a professional learning environment, this university experience will enable you to develop the skill set and the confidence to become a graduate with a valuable role to play in society.

University Centre Reaseheath: University Centre Reaseheath (UCR) is committed to sustainability and conservation, which is reflected in their curriculum, teaching and learning approach, rural site and grounds. Reaseheath's rich conservation habitats, facilities and resources make UCR an ideal choice for those who want to make a difference to the environment, to food, land and water security, to our wildlife and to our health and wellbeing.

University Centre Birkenhead: With excellent transport links to both Liverpool and Chester, our dedicated health and nursing education facility in Birkenhead provides Adult Nursing students with an outstanding  learning environment to practise clinical based skills.
Facilities include a fully-equipped skills laboratory resembling a high-tech hospital ward, virtual reality equipment and technology for practising clinical skills, numerous classrooms and meeting spaces for group work, as well as a dedicated Health and Social Care library.


COURSE & ELIGIBILITY
COURSES:
Acting BA (Hons) : This course is ideal for aspiring actors who are interested in developing their practical performance skills alongside theory, research and critical thinking. You will work with a specialist team of highly experienced lecturers with a wealth of industry experience.

Banking and Finance BSc (Hons): This course aims to prepare students to work in the banking and financial services industry. A key objective is to ensure that students become familiar with relevant banking technology and adapting to future risk management strategies.

Business Management (Marketing) BA Hons: Your journey to business professional starts here. You will benefit from silver TEF rated teaching and enjoy the practical application of the latest management ideas to help give you a global perspective. Real experiences will bring business management to life with a focus on communications and the global aspects of being an effective marketer.

Computer Science BSc (Hons): Throughout our course you will explore how computers work, how computer software is developed, how computers communicate with each other, and the ways in which software manipulates, stores and processes data. You will work effectively in teams, working on diverse projects, which is the most important skill that employers require.

Cybersecurity BSc (Hons): The security of computers, systems and information is of paramount importance to all nations. In response to security dangers, this course will give you knowledge of the threats, and provide you with the chance to gain the skills and expertise to investigate, police, and react accordingly, and to protect systems and organisations.

Events Management BA (Hons): At Chester Business School we bring studying Events Management to life with inspiring and real experiences, interactive learning, access and exposure to the industry, and an opportunity to develop and manage your own events. This means that we develop outstanding, career ready, events professionals.

Human Nutrition BSc (Hons) : Our accredited undergraduate Human Nutrition degree is designed to meet the Association for Nutrition (AfN) competencies required of a professional nutritionist. Our course team is dedicated to providing a course of study aimed at producing the professional graduates that continue to be in much demand within our society.

International Business Management BA (Hons) : Do you want to work for a company in an international market? Or do you want to find out more about how organisations operate on the world stage? This degree course will provide you with the toolkit for your international journey. 

Software Engineering BSc (Hons) : Our Software Engineering degree aims to produce industry-ready graduates who have the knowledge, skills and experience to succeed. Our course structure encourages you to unleash your creative side by designing and prototyping user interfaces as well as sharpen your problem solving and analytical skills by writing code to develop software for multiple platforms. We harness current industry software tools and teach the latest techniques in software testing, deployment and overall management of projects. In parallel to studying these topics we aim for you to put these skills into practice by contributing to live projects and work placements throughout the programme.

Accounting MSc: This course is aligned to the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) professional examinations. Successful completion of the course will enhance your understanding of financial management and reporting, performance management, risk and corporate governance. Students will develop an understanding of a range of research methods and analytical techniques through an introduction to research methods. The final project module develops your critical and investigative skills to help you meet your professional interests and career goals. This may take the form of a dissertation, a work-based case study or a new business development proposal.

Biotechnology MSc: This course will focus on developing your laboratory-based research skills in a biotechnological area of your choice, while equipping you for a future academic or industry-based career. Our lecturers have specialist knowledge and research experience in environmental, microbial, plant and animal (including human) biotechnology, and you will also be taught by visiting lecturers who are leaders in their respective fields.

Cybersecurity (Conversion) MSc : Our Cybersecurity (Conversion) Master’s degree is aimed at both engineering and non-engineering students who wish to make the leap into the rapidly expanding field of cybersecurity. The course aims to provide both theory and real-world practical skills and expertise to an advanced level in the emerging field of cybersecurity.

Data Science MSc: The Data Science Master’s degree is aimed at people who have a technical, mathematical, or engineering background who want to develop their skills into the field of data science. Students who have worked in one of these areas but do not process a degree in the area are welcome to apply.

Engineering Management MSc: Our MSc is designed to reflect the expectation that candidates joining the award will have some suitable technical education, knowledge and/or expertise. 

Food Science and Innovation MSc : Population growth, both globally and within the UK, will continue to put pressure on all elements of the agri-food supply chain. A fully coordinated approach directed towards food quality, safety, security, and sustainability is needed. This course aims to develop your specialist skills and combine food science and technology, as well as nutrition and health to meet the challenges facing the industry.

Master of Business Administration MBA: Thought-provoking. Diverse. Flexible. Based in Chester the famous walled city, our Business School is nestled on the banks of the stunning River Dee. Our MBA offers you the chance to build your global network, test your creativity, challenge your perceptions and develop the management skills for international corporate success.

Mechanical Engineering MSc : The MSc gives you the chance to learn advanced concepts that covers areas of mechanical engineering, including materials science, thermofluids / energy systems, rigid / deformable body mechanics, manufacturing, strategy and design. This is reinforced with an examination of project and research methods, which provides students with an advanced skillset in professional and research practice.
