Helwan University is globally recognized, and the leading university in Egypt, which was established in July 26, 1975. It is one of the three major government universities in Cairo the capital of Egypt. It is a public university situated in Helwan, Egypt, which is part of Greater Cairo. It is recognized by MCI and many more international professional groups. Helwan University provides education at the undergraduate level, graduate level, and post-graduate level. Helwan University is a university of technology and applications, it possesses all the factors of distinction and diversity. It is taken into consideration to be a completely unique version among Egyptian universities because it encompasses arts, Applied Arts, Art Education, Music Education, and Physical Education Faculties.
Helwan University comprises 20 faculties as well as 50 research centers and productive units which connect the university with the problems of Egyptian society. Helwan University is the youngest of 3 major government universities in Cairo, it encompasses some of the most unique and oldest faculties in Egypt and the Middle-East. For Example, the Faculty of Applied Arts was established in 1839, Faculty of Fine Arts and Arts Education were established in1908 and 1936 respectively. The campus has a brilliant range of facilities inclusive of restaurants, a sports hall, bookshops, a central library, a shopping mall, an art exhibition hall, and many more. The university is providing the best infrastructure for its students and the quality facilities like good and spacious hostels, libraries, modern classrooms, etc. The university has one of the largest electronic libraries amongst all the Egyptian universities.

Helwan University currently has more than 170,000 (150,000 undergraduates, and 20,000postgraduates) with 5,000 faculty members and 7,000 administrative staff. 50% of the total student population is female and more than 60% of the administration staff population. The University is focused on the advancement of knowledge, ensuring high standard teaching and learning experience, creating innovative thinking and skills of analysis to address the challenges of a changing society and produce better informed and more mentally adaptable graduates well prepare for work in the 21st century.
