Gomel State Medical University
Gomel State Medical University, established in the year 1990, is recognized by WHO, MCI, and many more international MBBS professional groups. It is one of those universities which is having an advanced system of education, and it trains students with the help of updated education technology of medical study. The university embraces the high-tech methods of practical medicine that empower students to be focused, competitive and flexible in the medical field.
Gomel State Medical University offers low-cost MBBS program. The university is preparing doctors for nearby countries like India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and far abroad. From 1991 to 1999, 1037 doctors graduated from The Gomel State Medical Institute, and it has trained more than 20 candidates of sciences, which contributed to the expansion of the scientific and medical community of the Gomel region. In 2000, by the decision of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, the Faculty for the Training of Specialists for Foreign Countries was opened (currently - the faculty of foreign students). For the period 2000-2006, 1578 doctors graduated, including 119 MBBS specialists from foreign countries. For the period 2007 - 2019, 6355 doctors graduated, including 597 MBBS specialists from foreign countries. Currently, more than 4000 students (including more than 750 international students) study at this university. Faculty of General Medicine for abroad students was set up in the year 2000, and its foreign student population right now comprises more than 550 MBBS students from 30 distinct countries including India, Sri Lanka, USA, Pakistan, France, Syria, Yemen, UK, Peru, etc.
The main directions of international cooperation of the educational institution "Gomel State Medical University" is to increase credibility in the higher medical education system of the Republic of Belarus and further integration into the global educational space.
International contacts are actively used by the university for organizing and conducting international scientific conferences, seminars and round tables with the participation of leading specialists from foreign partner universities, the exchange of teaching staff and the development of student mobility. The university cooperates with many foreign universities of near and far abroad countries. Scientific cooperation is carried out in the framework of joint research programs. In the framework of international cooperation Academic exchanges and internships of students, teachers, and researchers are actively developing, joint scientific and educational events, research and conferences are being held.
Gomel State Medical University has concluded and is in force agreements on cooperation with foreign educational institutions, research, and other foreign organizations. Among the main partners of the university are such foreign educational institutions as the University of Nagasaki (Japan), the University of Akita (Japan), Kursk Medical University (Russia), the University of Aberdeen (Scotland) and others. Gomel State Medical University, the ideological and educational work with youth is carried out in accordance with the main directions of the state youth policy of the Republic of Belarus and is aimed at creating a diverse, moral, creative personality of the student.
